PavementComplete Streets

Pavement is the base layer for most of the transportation modes available.    Currently more than 90% of vehicles using roadways in Washtenaw County fit into the categories of Automobile or Freight.  Since roadways have historically been designed for only these modes, it is not surprising to see this high percentage.  Complete Streets involves all modes of travel and Pavement affects all modes of travel in some way.  Pavement needs to remain in good condition and operated safely for all modes of travel.  Treatments including pave shoulders, center turn lanes, and appropriate curve radii for freight travel all improve the safety of diverse modes sharing pavement.
