Asset Management Data for Washtenaw County

In 2002, the State of Michigan appointed an Asset Management Council to administer a new data collection process. This year marked the sixth time pavement rating data was collected for all federal-aid eligible roads in the State of Michigan. Data is collected using three person teams. The Washtenaw County team rated 913 miles of federal aid eligible roads in Washtenaw County in 2007.

The Pavement Surface Evaluation and Rating System (PASER) is used to assign a rating from "1" (failed road) to "10" (new road/complete reconstruction). The Washtenaw County information is combined with data from the entire state and a report is provided to the State Asset Management Council.

The 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 data is available for each community. For each community there are ratings using descriptive categories from "Excellent" to "Failed." Possible improvements are shown in a Recommended Action graph, which shows the recommended action for the pavement based on the rating.

In 2008, under direction of the Transportation Asset Management Council, PASER rating data was collected on half of the federal aid eligible system in Washtenaw County. Federal aid eligible roads that were not rated in 2008 were rated in 2009.
