Beginning on Monday August 4, 2008
Location and
Limits of Affected Area:
Intersection of Newport Road and Sunset Road
Description
of Construction:
The Maple-Miller Transmission Water Main project includes the installation
of a 24” water main, 30” storm sewer and full or partial road
resurfacing along N. Maple, Miller Ave, Fulmer St and Sunset Road; ending
at the City of Ann Arbor Water Treatment Plant. At this time and while
the Ann Arbor Public Schools are closed for the summer, the proposed utility
installation must pass through the intersection of Newport Rd and Sunset

safety the intersection must be closed to the through vehicular traffic
during this phase of the construction. The work at the intersection is
expected to take 5-10 work days depending on the weather and the soil
condition at this location. For the emergency vehicles, i.e. Police, Fire
and Ambulance services, provisions are made to bypass the intersection
via and existing parking lane west of the intersection at any time (see
the map attached).
