The lack of sustainable state and federal transportation funding underpins the unacceptable condition of Michigan's roads. Funding has not kept pace with the real costs for bare maintenance of the system. Nationwide, other states are exploring other options to raise revenue or enabling local communities to address their own needs. As Washtenaw County grapples with the funding crises, we must find solutions within limited existing solutions to fill the funding gap. WATS published this funding report to explore some of those options.
