ArborBike's First Year

After a year of planning, partnering and securing funding, ArborBike is here!  While not the City’s first bike-share system, ArborBike is the first modern system to operate locally.  In fall of 2014 several solar powered stations were installed in Ann Arbor and on UM campus and volunteers helped assemble the fleet of ArborBikes.

WATS share the Clean Energy Coalition’s, and partners, excitement over the benefits that ArborBike will foster throughout its network, including:

  • Reduce congestion
  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
  • Increase transit use
  • Enhance intermodal connections
  • Encourage healthy, active transportation

The recent transition to winter weather saw the ArborBikes pulled in for the season, but the full system will be reestablished in the spring and Clean Energy Coalition are exploring options for several year round stations.  More information is available at ArborBike.org.
